Welcome to the Encinitas Bike Walk Newsletter – your monthly digest for walking and biking in Encinitas.
We are deeply heartbroken by the tragic loss of the Park Dale Lane Elementary student. Our thoughts and condolences go out to their family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. This tragedy serves as a painful reminder of the urgent need for safer streets for all. We will continue advocating for safer roads and stronger protections to prevent further loss of life.

Santa Fe Dr Project - Feedback Survey and Community Meeting
The first phase of the Santa Fe project is complete! Please go check it out. Unfortunately, a vocal group is suggesting we should spend our limited tax dollars to remove the completed work.
Our motto is ‘Improve, don’t remove!’
Offer your feedback to the city by completing the project survey AND by attending the May 13th City Community Meeting.
The project offers many benefits:
- Separated bike path
- Narrowed lanes to slow traffic
- Mid-block crossing to allow students to safely traverse Santa Fe
- Increased parking capacity with head-out parking (15 additional spaces)
- Landscaping with integrated stormwater treatments
Positive feedback is great. Constructive suggestions for improvement are also needed.
