Joint Meeting of the City Council and Mobility and Traffic Safety Commission (MTSC) to Discuss MTSC Work Plan
- Implement standardized signage/striping at Roundabouts Citywide
- Work with staff on standardization of signing and striping at Roundabouts citywide based on state and national standards
- Santa Fe Revisions (around the High School)
- Work with staff and community to recommend potential enhancements to Santa Fe corridor
- Circulation Element/Mobility Review by schools
- Evaluate feasibility and prioritize using lower classification roads for active transportation in the city and provide recommendations to staff/council
- Birmingham Drive Pedestrian Mobility
- Evaluate the feasibility and potentially design a marked and signed pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Le Gaye and Birmingham
- Consider opportunities to fund safer infrastructure through additional enforcement
- Work with staff and the Sheriff’s office to evaluate opportunities for additional enforcement or more targeted enforcement citywide using available resources and evaluate the possibility of enhanced or automated enforcement
- Vulcan Trail/safe route
- Identify areas for improvement along Vulcan Ave and create walkway continuity and connectivity on the west side of Vulcan Ave.
- Make New Encinitas more pedestrian friendly, e.g. midblock crosswalks
- Identify opportunities to enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility along ECR by potentially adding additional mid-block crossings or other pedestrian improvements
- Policy on bike parking at commercial businesses
- Work with staff on evaluating needs and preparing guidelines and policies for bike improvements and facilities at commercial areas and parking
- Santa Fe and Crest
- Evaluate the feasibility and potentially design a quickbuild roundabout at the intersection
- Safety Education
- Provide recommendations to Mobility Manager on how to implement education efforts citywide including electric bikes
